She took the stage before most children take their first dance class, performing alongside tap legend Savion Glover, moving with a fearless presence that cannot be taught. That was the beginning of a journey that has taken her from the stages of Newark to Lincoln Center and Times Square in NYC, to the wings of Broadway.

She has trained at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, now in the Professional Division, the institution's highest level of training. Ailey did not just teach her to dance. It taught her what dance is for.

During the silence of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the world was searching for something to hold on to, eleven-year-old Mireicy wrote and performed "The Prayer," a spoken-word poem that won an Inspiration Award and found its way into the Library of Congress's permanent collection.

She has served as Dance Ambassador for NJPAC. She originated the role of Young Maria in the off-Broadway production Queen Me. At 16, she choreographed closing pieces that audiences called the most memorable work they had seen in years, with commissions already coming from NJPAC, All Stars, and beyond.

Mireicy Aquino is a dancer, choreographer, poet, and actor. But more than any title, she is an artist who moves people.
